Focus Nootropic Powder

$28/100g · Black Cherry

Focus is a nootropic drink powder from the AF Nutrition Lab × Amanita Store line, formulated for daytime mental concentration. It pairs an acute layer — caffeine and L-theanine in a 1:2 ratio, working within the hour — with a cumulative layer built on Lion's mane extract and citicoline, which supports cognitive function over weeks of regular use. The pack is labelled Focus Support and comes as a black stand-up pouch of flavoured powder.

Key benefits:
Concentration without jitteriness, from caffeine paired with L-theanine at a 1:2 ratio
Memory and mental clarity support, from citicoline and Lion's mane
Resistance to mental fatigue, from L-tyrosine
Longer-term cognitive support with regular use

Ordinary coffee delivers concentration, but often with jitteriness and no lasting support for the brain itself. Focus is built as a two-layer formula instead: balanced stimulation from caffeine and theanine for the here-and-now, plus nutrients that support neuron structure and biochemistry for the weeks ahead. It's intended for knowledge workers, students and anyone who needs sustained concentration through a working or study day.

What's in Each Serving

One scoop (≈3.1 g) contains Lion's mane 10:1 extract, L-Tyrosine, Taurine, L-Theanine, Caffeine and Citicoline sodium (CDP-choline). Powder, black stand-up pouch. Net weight 100 g, 32 servings. Available in Black Cherry, Red Apple, Sweet Orange, Blue Raspberry, Grape, Peach and Pineapple. Full per-ingredient amounts are given on the product label.

What Each Ingredient Does

Lion's mane supports nerve growth factor production, longer-term brain support and mental clarity, the same fruiting-body extract behind our Lion's mane capsules and tincture.
L-Tyrosine is a precursor of dopamine and noradrenaline, supporting performance under mental or stress load.
Taurine offers antioxidant protection for nerve cells, a supporting role in the formula.
L-Theanine gives calm concentration without drowsiness, balanced against caffeine at a 2:1 ratio.
Caffeine supports alertness and reaction speed, at a moderate dose roughly equivalent to a cup of coffee.
Citicoline is a choline source for acetylcholine synthesis and structural support for neurons.

Why These Ingredients Together

Caffeine and theanine are a well-known pairing for concentration without over-stimulation. Citicoline and Lion's mane work at the level of neuron structure and biochemistry — a genuinely different mechanism, not a second stimulant layered on the first.

What to Expect and When

Subjectively: alertness and focus within 30–60 minutes, from caffeine and theanine. Increasing mental clarity builds gradually over 4–8 weeks, from Lion's mane and citicoline.
Objectively: nerve growth factor production, acetylcholine synthesis, support for dopamine and noradrenaline under load, and support for phospholipid turnover in neuron cell membranes.
Set the timeframe honestly: there is no acute nootropic hit from the Lion's mane and citicoline component, and studies examining cognitive measures typically run 4 to 8 weeks before assessing anything.

How and When to Take Focus

Dissolve one scoop (≈0.6 of the included scoop, ≈3.1 g) in 200–250 ml of water or another drink, once daily, in the morning or before a period of demanding mental work. Avoid taking it in the afternoon or evening — the caffeine content can affect sleep. If you are sensitive to caffeine, start with half a serving.

Quality and Sourcing

The Lion's mane in Focus is a 10:1 fruiting-body extract, not mycelium grown on grain — the same sourcing standard as our standalone Lion's mane capsules. Milled mycelium-on-grain products are largely starch by weight and correspondingly light on the compounds Lion's mane is taken for, so the extraction ratio on the label is worth checking on any nootropic product making similar claims. Citicoline is included as citicoline sodium (CDP-choline), the form most commonly used in research on choline supplementation, rather than a cheaper choline salt with a different absorption profile. Caffeine is a defined, consistent amount per serving — not a proprietary-blend figure that hides the actual dose — see the label for the exact figure.

Who This Suits

Focus is aimed at people whose day involves sustained mental output rather than physical training: desk-based knowledge work, study sessions, exam periods, or any stretch of the day that calls for concentration without a mid-afternoon crash. It suits people who already drink coffee but want the jittery edge softened by theanine, and people who want to start layering in a longer-term nootropic without committing to a large capsule regimen. It is not intended for children, and the caffeine content makes it unsuitable for evening use or for anyone deliberately avoiding stimulants — our stimulant-free Lion's mane capsules are the better fit in that case.

Caffeine Tolerance and Sensible Use

Like any caffeinated product, Focus works best when it isn't the fifth source of caffeine in your day. If you already drink coffee, tea or an energy drink, count Focus's caffeine content (see the label) toward your total rather than on top of it. Tolerance to the alertness effect can build with daily use, while the cumulative benefit from Lion's mane and citicoline does not work the same way and continues to build with consistent use regardless of caffeine tolerance.

What's on the Label

Every batch of Focus carries the same commitments as the rest of the AF Nutrition Lab × Amanita Store line: lab-tested for purity, no hidden additives, premium-grade raw materials, and a certificate of analysis (COA) available for every batch.

Stacking with Performance and Recovery

Focus is designed to sit at the start of the day in a simple daily cycle: Performance before training, Focus during working hours, and Recovery in the evening. The caffeine in Focus and the evening timing of Recovery are naturally kept apart. For a stimulant-free focus stack, our existing Lion's mane capsules and cordyceps capsules combination is also worth considering; see our supplement stacking guide and Lion's mane and L-theanine stack guide for building a routine deliberately. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take Focus every day? Yes, it's intended for regular use on working or study days. If you're sensitive to caffeine, start with half a serving and see how you respond before moving to a full scoop.

When does the effect appear? Caffeine and theanine act within 30–60 minutes. Lion's mane and citicoline build over 4–8 weeks of consistent use.

Is it safe to combine with Performance on the same day? Yes, there are no known contraindications to taking them on the same day. Performance is caffeine-free, so the only thing worth planning around is Focus's caffeine content — keep it earlier in the day regardless of when you train.

Does the flavour affect the formula? No. All seven flavours — Black Cherry, Red Apple, Sweet Orange, Blue Raspberry, Grape, Peach and Pineapple — use the identical ingredient panel and doses; only the taste differs.
